Sparking Hope For the Future: IBlieve Partners with the IBO’s Festival of Hope

IBlieve is proud to announce that it is partnering with the Festival of Hope to enhance the future of the IB student experience!

Launched in September 2022, the Festival of Hope is a series of collaborations hosted by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to “bring the IB mission to life”. The program aims to create opportunities for young people to engage in dynamic discussions and take action on rising global themes, including environmental well-being and the role of AI in society.

Highlighting worldwide student collaboration, IBlieve’s partnership with the IBO’s Festival of Hope focuses on the potential of sparking change through bringing student voices to the forefront. This takes inspiration from how IBlieve began in 2020, when co-founders Katie Tracy and Imogen Duke connected via Twitter to brainstorm ideas for supporting fellow IB students.

“In the spirit of global conversations, IBlieve actually started when Imogen messaged me during the coronavirus pandemic about how we, as recent IB graduates, can create something that could help IB students. This led us to launch IBlieve just a few months later in July 2020” shares Tracy in a video by Festival of Hope announcing the partnership.

Together with the Festival of Hope, IBlieve kickstarted conversations with IB students and alumni with a symposium on sparking change and innovating the future of the IB student experience. Held at Trinity College Dublin last October 2023, to coincide with the IB Global Conference, the symposium’s key speakers included Katie, entrepreneur Harry B., education consultant Arifa Nasim, and IBlieve co-executive director Maitha Qassim.

Speaking at the IB Global Conference 2023 in Dublin, Ireland, Imogen shares: “We’re really looking forward to working with the IB to elevate the youth voice and to help young people create change.”

Students who had won the Global Youth Action Fund awards also presented their projects to the Conference. Run by the Festival of Hope, the Global Youth Action Fund supports student-led initiatives towards building the global community in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Projects recognized in the Conference included TheKnitFit.Co, Flowers for the Future, and Young Trees.

Partnering with organizations like Generation Global and the Conrad Challenge, the Festival of Hope features exhibitions, grant challenges, and live discussion workshops. Its first live event was held with Chicago Public Schools in November 2022, followed by workshops in Wales, New Delhi, and Mumbai.
