Resources for IB Business Management

Preparing for IB Business Management can sometimes feel overwhelming due to the wide range of concepts and exam skills that are required. However, using the right resources that work for you, which provide a structured approach can make revision much more effective and manageable. Here are some of the most useful strategies and resources from my personal experience:

1. Start with the Syllabus

One of the most important (but often overlooked) resources is the official IB Business Management Syllabus. This clearly outlines every topic and subtopic that could be assessed in your exams. Use this as a checklist to ensure that you cover all the required content and don’t miss smaller topics that might appear in your external assessments. A good strategy is to go through the syllabus line-by-line and check your understanding of each concept. If there is something that feels unfamiliar, make a note of it and revise that area. This approach helps you identify gaps in your knowledge and to ensure efficient revision.

2. Revision Dojo

Revision Dojo is a popular platform among IB students as it provides active teaching and revision methods, as well as support, tailored to the IB curriculum. For Business Management, it can help explain difficult concepts, generate practice questions and break down case study analyses. It can be particularly useful for understanding specific topics and also for quick explanations. There are also interactive lessons and summative cheatsheets perfect for exam-ready revision.

3. Save My Exams

Save My Exams provides clear notes that summarise the syllabus in a very concise and well-structured way. The notes are incredibly useful for reviewing topics quickly before tests or exams. In addition to notes, there are also lots of practice questions and model answers which can help with exam technique.

4. Youtube Channels

Youtube can also be a powerful revision tool when used effectively. Several channels focus on IB Business Management explain topics in a simple, concise way.

There are 2 particular channels I find particularly useful:

  • Diplomaly – explains IB Business Management concepts clearly and has good videos on exam preparation.
  • TJBusman– breaks down topics effectively and provides good practical examples. There are also some great videos about the IB Business Management Internal Assessment.

Videos can be especially helpful when you need a verbal explanation when textbooks don’t satisfy the gaps in your knowledge.

In conclusion, from my personal experience, these are some resources that work well for me. Make sure to use a variety of resources together so that you can build a strong understanding of the syllabus and improve your exam technique. Happy revising!
