6 Secrets to Make your IB Experience Better

The IB experience has been known to be very demanding but fulfilling. Having considered this, we present to you 6 tips to make the most out of your 2 last years of high school:

1. Don’t Procrastinate

Set deadlines for yourself before the actual due date and try doing your IAs during your summer vacation of Year 1. Even if you only start 2 IAs, it’s better than not doing anything. For example, you can talk to a few of your teachers and decide if the topic you have in mind is good.

2. Pay attention in class

This seems very obvious, but we all somehow still manage to not pay attention. However, if you do pay attention, you don’t have to cram all the material but only revise what you’ve already learned, which is much easier to do. If you’re currently doing online school, a good way of making sure you pay attention is to take down notes in real time with the lecture.

3. Ask questions

We recognize that it can be quite easy to avoid asking questions to avoid sounding “dumb”. However, in the long-run, you’ll only become smarter and you’ll thank yourself for asking that dumb question anyway. Always remember that FAIL stands for First Attempt In Learning.

4. Mentally prepare yourself for the IB

The International Baccalaureate is a rigorous program, and it is known for challenging students. Expect to be faced with hardships and possible failure. Even the most intelligent struggle at times, and recognizing this will allow you to cope with the stressors of IB much faster. Despite this, do not fear the International Baccalaureate. 5. Surround yourself with positive energy

It is no secret that IB experience can be emotionally and mentally draining. Spend time with your loved ones and make time for activities you are interested in. It is vital to have a good work-life balance. Although it might sometimes feel unavoidable, do not allow IB to take control of your life.

6. Take care of yourself

Do not sacrifice your sleep to cram for your exams. It is medically recommended to take 8 hours of sleep daily, otherwise it might seriously affect your health. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a marathon and not a sprint, and therefore it is crucial to create a sustainable schedule that allows you to have sufficient study and sleep time in order to maintain your health.
